maintaining the sparkle
General Product care
All finely crafted jewellery is delicate and requires special care. To preserve the lustre of your BROSISCUS jewellery and the integrity of your cyrstal pieces you must follow these care instructions.
SPECIAL CARE REQUIRED
Properly caring for your jewellery is essential to ensure its lasting beauty and durability. Please remember that jewellery is delicate and requires care.
Gentle Handling: Always handle your jewellery with clean, dry hands. Avoid excessive force or bending, especially with delicate pieces. Make sure you place necklaces on your neck without twisting.
Protect from Sunlight: Store your jewelry away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures, as these can cause discoloration and damage.
AVOID WATER AND CHEMICALS
It is important to remove your jewellery to avoid exposure to household bleach and other products, which will quickly cause gold and silver to discolour and sometimes disintegrate.
You must not wear jewellery when:
- Household and outdoor chores (i.e., cleaning and gardening)
- Showering, bathing or swimming in pools, hot tubs and the ocean
- Using lotion, hair products, fragrances and other cosmetics
- Exercising at the gym or during contact sports
- Preparing meals
REMOVE BEFORE BED
It is better to remove it before bedtime. Sleeping with your jewelry on can lead to unnecessary wear and tear on your precious pieces. The friction between your jewellery and bedding can cause scratches and damage to gemstones and metal surfaces. Additionally, there's a risk of your jewelry getting tangled in sheets or caught on clothing, which can be uncomfortable or even hazardous.
To ensure the longevity and beauty of your jewellery, make a habit of taking it off before you drift off to dreamland.
NOTE ON RINGS
Rings and crystal products require special. Many activities can mishape the pieces which may result in the loss of stones. We strongly recommend you remove delicate pieces like necklaces and crystal pieces before bed.
Store Carefuly, away from sunlight
We recommend storing your pieces in a purpose-made jewellery box or a safe dry place when not wearing your jewellery.. We recommend extra care and make sure chains are not stored in a way where they can become tangled.
Store your jewellery away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures, as these can cause discoloration and damage.
Cleaning
Clean your jewellery regularly using a soft, non-abrasive cloth to remove oils, dirt, and fingerprints.
For a deeper clean, Gently use only products specifically designed for cleaning the metal your piece is made of.

METAL SPECIFIC NOTES
Sterling Silver
Sterling silver is perfect for those who want to wear their pieces all the time! 925 Sterling Silver is an alloy made of 92.5% pure silver and 7.5% copper. Most BROSISCUS pieces are crafted from sterling silver including our gold plated pieces. Many of our silver jewellery pieces are also plated with rhodium or white gold for extra shine and durability. Rhodium is one of the costliest precious metals due to its rarity. All sterling silver will naturally oxidise over time; to care for your piece simply polish with a silver polishing cloth or dip it in a gentle silver cleaning solution.
Gold and Silver plating
Gold and silver plating is a method of bonding a thin layer of liquid gold or silver onto the surface of another metal such as sterling silver or stainless steel by electrochemical plating. Plated jewellery is subject to change due to the acidity of a person's skin, and exposure to things like perfumes, moisturisers, tans or cleaning products. Wear in plating and tarnish are not manufacturing faults but a facet of more affordable jewellery pieces and how long plating will last depends on the individual as well as care of the product.
Solid Gold
Unlike many other metals, gold will never tarnish or fade, making it perfect for everyday wear. To care for your piece, simply polish it with a gold polishing cloth (available for purchase), or dip it in warm water using a mild detergent. Please avoid swimming in chlorine or saltwater, and limit any contact with harsh chemicals as this can damage the soft metal.
Stones and Crystals
Diamonds and other stones set into solid gold or sterling silver can be cleaned in warm water with a mild detergent solution, or by a professional jeweller. Please take care when wearing stones that are set into our rings, as any activity that causes the band to become misshapen will affect the setting. This may result in the loss of stones. Misshapen pieces are deemed wear and tear and are not covered under warranty.
Allergies
All of our pieces are nickel and alloy free! Please note that while we take care to ensure quality manufacturing materials, BROSISCUS is not liable to compensate customers for any reactions that are caused by our jewellery. If you experience any reactions to our jewellery we recommend to consult your GP.
Tarnishing
Tarnish occurs for many reasons and is subject to the environment of the wearer. Tarnish is not a manufacturing fault as it can be caused by many different things such as perfumes, moisturisers, tanning lotions and cleaning chemicals. Even ones' skin acidity can cause metals to tarnish. Tarnish can also be a result of oxidation from the way items are stored. Oxidation is a natural process that occurs from the combination of oxygen with a substance forming oxide. This can be caused by either lack of oxygen or too much oxygen exposure.
